A community space for all age groups

I agree with many comments here. This is an underutilised space which is in desperate need of regeneration.
The age demographic for the area is vast with several schools across primary, secondary and even post-16 whilst also catering for dog walkers.
the play area desperately needs to be cordoned off so that dogs and dog mess which is not collected does not endanger the health of children.
The area would benefit greatly from a good sized zip line (for mid to older children); interactive and physically suitable areas for younger children with a sand area, and possibly even outdoor gym style equipment, climbing/strength bars for older children and a few picnic benches.
A small flat area for a sturdy basketball hoop and/or outdoor ping pong table would be wonderful too. I think that it is easy to forget that the term 'child' legally refers to individuals up to the age of 18, and yet there is no offering for older children in recreation areas. Yet, we all moan when older children find negative outlet's for their energy. Offering things that older children can enjoy would be great for the area and those that live in it.
As a local who lives and works as a secondary school educator in the area, I think we also greatly underestimate young people's interest in board games. Some strategically placed permanent chess/draughts tables with attached seating would be a welcome addition for children and adults alike.
The above is my 'blue-sky' thinking for this space but which could truly transform the space and encourage greater community spirit and engagement.
