I love children, and l love fruit. Used to go scrumping when l was young but come on, mix the two together & you really are asking for trouble. The trees will be ripped apart within days of planting, a sheer waste of time. The money would be better spent on other play equipment. Any spare can be used for the upkeep of the equipment.

Sue, let's hope l am proved wrong if they go ahead with an orchard. Don't think so - if when they put in equipment & that was torn up what do you seriously think will happen to young trees? Does the council look after weed-strewn pavements and verge edges now - no & you think they will look after trees? That is a lovely area but a lot of rubbish around there now. There is wildlife as well with plenty of foxes (which people feed). there now so you have your wish.

How sad to see the comment from Carolyn. I do hope you will be nicely surprised, esp if community are involved. Anything natural, and wildlife friendly please and without plastic or rubber which pollutes and overheats. Sand or woodchips? A watery area will provide added interest and help cool in hot weather. Trees for shade essential.
