Becoming and remaining active with physical and mental health challenges
From "Active Wellbeing"
Go to the project
I have been a Registered Mental Health Nurse for the past 17 years. My career has been filled with experiences of mental and physical illnesses. The one activity was has been very beneficial to improving and maintaining my health is exercise. Despite exercise having long lasting positive effects on my health , it’s not always possible for me to engage in exercise because my illnesses often times act as a barrier to me using the outdoors to achieve exercise regularly. Having access to specific home/indoor exercise equipment will greatly increase my levels of activity. I have tried it in the past and this has helped greatly.

Thank you Richard, I completely agree, I like exercising at home for this reason too. Havant's Get Up and Go project attracts a lot of people who have mental health conditions. Our instructors have completed the MH in sport course which they have found beneficial. Just in case this is useful for you or people you are seeing in your role.
