Hayling island camper vans facilities areas
From "Corporate Strategy"
Go to the project
The decision to remove camper vans overnight parking on Hayling island has removed the ability for people to visit on an ad-hoc or planned basis. Therefore revenue and investment has been significantly reduced. The council has removed this restriction for the kite surfing festival which is hypocritical. Consequently, is there strategy to generate areas where camper vans can stay overnight, especially in these times of ‘stay cations’ which will lead to local investment by visitors. Thank you

Very few were paying overnight is what I heard! So not much revenue was generated
Do you think the local campsites are not good enough - perhaps thats the best way forward. The sites provide firefighting equipment, 24/7 toilets and lots of other goodies that HBC just dont care about providing as you will know!

Hi Mike,
Thanks for your comments. As highlighted in my initial comments, HBC lifted the restrictions for the recent kite surfing festival, so why then re-introduce restrictions? I would expect all concerned would have purchased parking tickets in the correct manner and enforced through wardens patrolling, the norm ?? I would be interested in which campsites cater for camper vans/motor homes as availability could be an issue as well as significantly increased traffic during the silent hours. It could be prudent for a specific area(s) to be generated as this is an all year option for van/motor home owners, whereas certain camp sites might close from Nov to March??
Regards

@Richard Norris Yep all valid stuff, you will be far safer on a managed site I believe there are at least 5 on the island ;-) THe kite festival was cancelled wasnt it? I guess they would have paid through the festival ticket?
