As someone with a knee injury, I need to sit frequently. Having benches would be a big help and mean I wouldn't be in pain. In order to improve the place, they would need to be nice, such as the ones in the picture, and not just the regular wooden ones there now.

This would be a great idea! However, it would be vandalised in days! You can't polish a t*rd! The area unfortunately is rundown and has had no real investment for years! A lot of people have no respect for the community they live in, the precinct needs the "wardens" back who used to issue fines for littering or dropping cigarette ends etc. There are lots of bins, but not everyone uses them! Bike racks are pointless, the E-bike, ninja, mask wearing chavs won't use them.
There are too many vape/barber/charity shops, but this is pretty much the whole country now, The high street is pretty much finished. Maybe, bulldoze the whole area and re-purpose for housing!
