Indoor Bowling Facilities
From "Active Wellbeing"
Go to the project
I commenced bowling (not 9 Pin), when Havant had an indoor bowling facility, in their leisure centre, many years ago. That closed. I then joined Lakeside Holiday Village on H.Island who had Indoor Rinks that were open to outsiders. That closed. There are many other ladies and gentlemen in the Havant area who love bowling and have nowhere to go indoors in the dry. The Victory Rink, in Portsmouth is very awkward to get to when you are carrying Bowls etc. and have to travel by bus. The opportunity to be able to bowl locally in Havant would be tremendous for a lot of elderly as well as able bodied persons. Please think about reinstating a Bowling Rink. Put Havant back on the map again.

Thanks so much for this feedback Brenda. I know there's Indoor bowls at Cowplain and Leigh Park but they are not proper rinks.

@Sophie Iles I believe both of the rinks you mention are outside ones, on grass or the other surface that is used for bowling. Thank you for your response. That is the problem there are numerous outside rinks, but no indoor. I also suffer with Raynards Disease in the winter outside my hands are like ice, pure white and painful.

@Brenda Glasspool HI Brenda, I totally understand as my daughter has that, it's horrible :( Did you know there's a sociable indoor bowls club at Cowplain Activity centre?
Mondays - 9am - 12:30pm
Wednesdays - 1pm to 4pm
Thursdays - 1pm to 4:30pm
The sessions are £3.20 including tea and biscuits. Contact is the centre on 02392 267029
Hope this helps. Sophie

@Sophie Iles ~Again thanks for that, but I am afraid I am a bit more of a competitive person as well as a social person. I enjoy the challenges of both the exercise and achievements that came my way. Out of interest, where is the Cowplain Activity Centre located.

@Brenda Glasspool I understand, It's great to be competitive! Sadly the indoor bowls club at Horizon leisure centre was very underused, so it got turned in to a gym. Leigh Park Bowls club play inside in Winter apparently, at their club http://leighpark.bowls-club.co.uk/
Cowplain Activity centre is along Padnell Road, Waterlooville PO8 8EH
