Is it safe to swim in the water

From "Corporate Strategy"

Go to the project

I am extremely concerned that the environment/peoples health is being impacted by the uncontrolled release of sewage into the local water. Can you reassure residents that it is safe and also which social media conduit can be used to follow issues and updates. Many thanks

There is no chance of the dodgey Havant warning anyone. They are only in the council for the backhanders. Shocking waste of space they are and destructive too.

I am presuming that if Havant Council will or can not advise if the water is safe for swimming and water sports that it is not safe. So Havant Council should publicise this for the benefit of its residents and visitors to the beaches. Perhaps Havant Council will be legally liable when someone inevitably contracts a serious disease. The Council should be acting to ensure the water is safe for its taxpayers and visitors.

@Nick Rogers Mark newman was expressing concern about the impact of sewage on the citizens of this borough. Maybe he is too polite to question why you did not answer his questions. You did not assure him that it is safe at all. The information provided only shows the levels human excrement on a handful of days in every 365 days typically that around 5-20 days when know the levels of pollution can be quantified (10 days after the sample). The council cares so much about this matter that it stopped measuring seawater quality in the borough in 2015 because it clearly thought it was not a high enough priority The council cares so much about this matter that it flatly refuses to issue sewage pollution warning for our beaches, a petition of over 2000 water users was rejected in 2021. As we all know excellent water quality ( less than 250 fcu/100ml) is based on a handful of samples per year. Our blue flag beach regularly gets independently measured at well over 250 and as far as 890 cfu/100ml. Oct 2022 say 5800 cfu/100ml at Hayling Bridge! The environment agency no longer deals with anything other than the most serious pollution incidents and so they are not helpful either! The council's blue flag beach application said it expected 7000 visitors per day and 500,000 visitors per year - its current strategic offering in terms of looking after the health and safety of citizens is woefully inadequate some would say negligent! Strategically as indicated in my own comments to this consultation the council should be looking out for the health and safety of its residents and of its visitors that contribute £109M to the local economy that helps to pay for council services though taxes.
