Pattern of Development

We support the identification of Waterlooville Town Centre as a priority area for regeneration and welcome that previously developed land within the urban area should be the focus to deliver new growth and development for the town. The land at Elletra Avenue has been promoted for a variety of uses, some of which are now built, some are still subject to a live planning application with the balance of the site also subject to an extant planning permission for a range of uses.

As noted above, Hargreaves are a commercial developer. Their site is promoted only for commercial uses and we would resist the allocation of any residential use on the site as that would undermine their commercial aspirations for it.

In respect of retail and town centres we support the objective of providing larger format retail and leisure uses in Waterlooville Town Centre. In light of Hargreaves’ interests, we would welcome a discussion about how their land could potentially accommodate such uses as an extension or enlargement to the Town Centre.
