What this area needs is somewhere for the older kids.

Alan Skerratt•3 years ago There is a park on Hazelton way and another on tempest avenue for younger kids. What this area desperately needs is somewhere for the older (teenaged) kids to go. A pump track would fit in this area perfectly, with it being enclosed on 3 sides, and it would encourage the kids to do something physical rather than sitting on there phones and make a nuisance of them selves. I take my son to the Hilsea track regularly and it is a very popular attraction, nearly always having kids of all ages and abilities on it.

pump track

Alan Skerratt•3 years ago I like the idea of a pump track at this site. The single line design shown is very limiting though and does not cater for more advanced riders. The Hilsea track was referenced and this is a good example of a multi line arrangement. The Hilsea track is a figure of 8 design with a back line, almost a pretzel type shape. This is in my opinion a much better layout because it offers more options for transitions and also allows riders to single out sections of the track when other areas are being used by other users. There has recently been a new pump track installed at QECP and this is of a similar design to the submitted one and it is very disappointing to ride. Fit for nothing other than small children and novice riders. This is an opportunity to provide the community with something special, please take it!
