Quality of housing

Richard Hitchcock•4 years ago In view of climate change, and the impact it will inevitably have in the future, it is important that all new housing is insulated to a very high standard, to ensure that as little possible energy as possible is needed to keep it warm or cool.

Prioritising the environment.

Richard Hitchcock•4 years ago Without an environment there will be no people and therefore no need for new houses or businesses - or any houses or businesses at all, for that matter. It is therefore paramount that we work with nature and do not continue to expect it to work to service our needs. Failing to invest money to protect our environment represents a false economy and we therefore need to give very careful consideration to the impact that any new development will have on our environment and the vital biodiversity that it supports.

The overall plan.

Richard Hitchcock•4 years ago The aspirations are good but, as always, the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

The right kind of houses in the right location.

Richard Hitchcock•4 years ago Housing is important where there is an established need. There is a special need for afforable housing. As far as possible, housing should be built on brownfield sites and within easy reach of urban centres. The site to the north of LCL is inappropriate. If you don't feel the Borough is capable of accommodating the housing numbers allocated by central government, this figure should be challenged.
