Community Orchard at Springwood
The green space next to Springwood play area in Waterlooville may be used as a Community Orchard.
The below shows the draft design of the community orchard at Springwood. Please note this is not a final draft so could be subject to change.
For this exciting project, we are looking to put together a constituted group of volunteers who can help out with the upkeep of this area.

We have exciting projects coming to Springwood. We are upgrading the childrens’ play area and along with that would like to create a community orchard. For this to be successful, we would need to have volunteers come forward to help with upkeep of the area.
Volunteering for the Community Orchard
8 volunteersWe have exciting projects coming to Springwood. We are upgrading the childrens’ play area and along with that would like to create a community orchard. For this to be successful we would need to have volunteers come forward to upkeep the trees.
Whilst, of course, there is a need for some physical ability, the orchard will be planted and it is the upkeep that we would be asking of the volunteers. This is a project that anyone could join in with.
We would need to set up a constituted group so that everything is in place to make this as effective as it can be. Help and guidance to do this would be provided via Havant Borough Council.
Thinking about what tasks might need to be undertaken, it would be things like:-
· Checking on the progress of the trees planted
· Watering through the dry seasons
· Working with HBC’s tree wardens and other experts
· Reporting any problems
· Collecting the fruit etc
