Front Lawn Play Area in Leigh Park is due to undergo refurbishment.

So that any refurbishment meets the needs of the local community, we want to hear your thoughts to ensure that any new provision is suitable, fun, and long lasting. Your input will help us shape the specification and design of the new play area.

This site is not suitable for wooden provision and the newly installed swing set will remain within the site and will be included within the refurbishment.

Deborah Kirby4 years ago I bring my grandchildren to the park but it really is a disgrace with glass and rubbish littered and in need of a total refurbish, Unfortunately the older children use this area so it would be nice if they had something where they could meet and use. Definitely in need of a fence and more areas to sit and bins and a solid ground under foot as the area is very uneven and a trip hazard for elderly.A larger climbing frame is always a favourite and swings but equally the zip wire is good fun. Solid steel as coloured gradually need painting over time and look unsightly. A mixture for smaller and older children and Something sturdy that will last and that can’t be vandalised in the future.

Sarah Talley4 years ago The best parks have something for all ages. When my children were younger, they loved parks with sand pits and swing. Now they prefer zip wires, climbing frames/walls and anything that makes me nervous! As a parent, I'd like to see spaces for adults to sit and watch from a safe distance as my two want a bit more freedom and independence but I also feel that picnic benches etc... make a big difference to families with little ones. Also, seating with shade/ cover so that the adults and children can enjoy the park for longer while being shielded from the weather.

Tyler Howells4 years ago As I’ve said in other comments my daughter absolutely loves zip lines, so any park with this included is an instant bonus for her! Also she loves the Southleigh road park tunnel and climbing unit. We love the colour and variety it has to offer! As long as there is a nice variety of equipment for my girl to use then she is happy.More seating is needed in most parks I’ve ever visited, it would give me a reason to stay down there longer as I can set up on a picnic table with all my baby stuff and push chair. Multiple bins are definitely important, it’s pretty disgusting when you see one massively over filled bin. Just nice bright multi colour! As long as it’s bright and not all one colour. To me I like seeing an all one colour/style throughout so it’s aesthetically pleasing, but in the words of my daughter ‘that park looks boring’. She loves seeing multi colour parks. Bright and colourful is the best way for the children! If this was to be refurbished similar to Emsworth/waterlooville I would definitely be visiting more often. I’m not too far away and my daughter is always looking for a new place to explore and have fun! It definitely creates more of a community feel when there is a popular park everyone goes to.

Amanda Southall4 years ago I believe the park needs to be modernised and have something for everyone, young through to teens and beyond! Make it a place where families want to go.As a family we recently visited a lovely park area about 40 mins drive away. The park had play areas, lots of benches for families to sit and eat a picnic, a cafe onsite. The park itself had tunnels, swings, climbing, zip wires, slides. It had a section aimed at the very young with much smaller accessible equipment. It had some bigger pieces of equipment aimed at slightly older children. It was all sandy with a great environment. There was areas of shade and areas where sunshine could come throughA great place for all the family to get together! Not just a park but a destination!

Samantha Hansler4 years ago I have asked my 4 year old son what he would like to see at our local park and he has asked for a climbing frame with a bigger slide, zip wire, me and you swing sets so we can swing togethEr and. A roundabout.I would like to see as a parent, the fences put back up around the park to stop dogs coming in, picnic benches to allow you to enjoy family picnics at the park and the grounds surrounding the play equipment need to be resurfaced and all glass needs to be cleared away.
