We want to hear your thoughts on anticipated refurbishment works at Scratchface Lane (PO9 3QU).

Subject to funding, Havant Borough Council plan to improve the provision at this site, so that any refurbishment meets the needs of the local community.

We want to hear your views to ensure that any new provision is suitable, fun, and long lasting. Your input will help us shape the specification and design of the new play areas.

We want to hear from you on what should be included within the proposed refurbishment of Scratchface Lane Play Area.

What equipment (such as swings, slides or climbing frames) would you like to see included in this play area?

Stacy Nivo2 years ago A play area with swings, monkey bars, slides for all ages not just toddlers… school age children 4-16.picnic bench(s)floor trails, hop scotch etc.zip line.change the layout to be able to utilise the space, toddler equipment one end, older children the other. lights, scratchface lane is very dark.i walk my dog in this park and is very sad seeing the current condition of this area, my daughter only has a swing to play on at 7 years old.. this is a very very long time coming for the community.

Hannah brown2 years ago It would be nice to see a colourful vibrant park for all ages. It would be good to see swing sets for both older children and babies plus a disabled swing. It would be nice to have a decent climbing frame with a tunnel slide, again accessible by all ages with different ways to climb up (so easier steps for younger kids and a harder way up for older kids). A roundabout and even potentially a zip line if enough room. Benches and bins should be included, as well as colourful hopscotch, or counting drawings on the floor.

Donna Neaves2 years ago Please make it suitable for all ages to enjoy. Tots to Teens. Make it colourful and built with quality materials and made to withstand all weathers. Please include swings, climbing frame, seating, interactive games, safety flooring, outside gym equipment, a place for the whole family to enjoy, fenced in and maybe include a dog enclosure, so dogs can be let off the lead in a safe space. fun for all the family.

Graham Martin 2 years ago Teenages and Adults: Provide outdoor exercise equipment, like Hayling and Rowlands Castle recreation areas. The equipment will support teenagers, and adults alike and promote exercise, health and also provides support to all, rather than just young children, equipment is safe using body weight only and needs little maintenance. This is provided very successfully across Europe in similar climates and an increase in both health and wellbeing of all.Young Children: Safe play area equipment, as seen in the 100 Acre Woods play area where young children can use swings, monkey bars, tunnel, playhouse, hopscoch, swing bowl, maybe a small maze. A good example can be seen at Drayton Park For young children and has significant use. It is noticeable,where equipment is provided for all ages, vandalism reduces due to provision of designated areas.

Ellen Bates2 years ago Please please please install metal equipment, the wooden stuff looks lovely to start with but simply does not last and does not stand up to vandalism which unfortunately seems to happen at all the parks. Equipment for a mixture of ages including swings and climbing frames and see saws would be great and maybe even some gym equipment as older children also like using that. The park is really popular with dog walkers so having a proper fence around it would be good. And please leave it as a solid base rather than grass or mesh as the park gets very waterlogged and would be a shame not be able to use the play area in bad weather due to it turning into a bog

Sarah Peter 2 years ago Living very close to the park (can see from lounge window) and knowing the 'unwanted visitors' that it will still attract, the parks equipment needs to be secure enough and anti vandal!As it is right next to a road, I pray it will be secure with a gate, this will hopefully help with dogs etc and any mess caused. Decent flooring that you don't come home filthy from (Park at Bidbury is so muddy and dirty). The type of tarmac that has a slight bounce would be ideal as this would be easy to clean (let's face it, bottles will be smashed unfortunately)Bright welcoming colours and picnic benches would be lovely, to encourage families to come for picnics.

Gary Corfield2 years ago I'd like to see the already in existence basketball / football court have the tarmac relaid. Or at he very least metal based nets on the basketball hoops.I regard the park as primarily for babys, toddlers and children of junior to early to mid teens in age.Equipment-wise: Swings, both for teens and minors. A traditional style roundabout, small bucket seat roundabout that spins based on the occupants movements and weight, baby and junior/teen swings, multi-area / sectioned single climbing frame with slides attached, rope bridges and monkey bars etc. My daughter would love a zip-wire, but I feel that it would attract the wrong crowd and based on other parks in the area always seem to susceptible to damage.Overall I think the park should be modernised, but remain fairly minimalist in design - a happy medium between having enough equipment to keep the kids entertained and exercised, but not ott such that it will attract excessive numbers. The park is really for local residents who would typically walk or scoot/cycle there and I personally wouldn't want it to attract lots of families from outside the immediate area given the extra traffic and noise that would bring.

Michelle McCabe2 years ago It would be great if it could be made bigger. Park at Staunton farm is amazing. Separate area for teenagers to hang out. Wood chip works well at Staunton and means weeds can't grow and bottle can't be smashed. It would be nice if it could be as natural as possible like the great parks in the Bearwood estates in Waterlooville. Having plants like willows to help form the landscape and great for hide and seek. Soft areas so kids can't fall and hurt themselves. At Portsmouth Hilsea lido they have sand and also a built in trampoline that is popular and have managed to survive the tests of time. Rocks to climb on. Hills to climb. My kids are 1.5 year and 6 years old. In Waterlooville dogs are allowed in parks but must be on leads. This works great. Tunnels and dens are fun. Rope swings.

Caroline Smith2 years ago Would love to see a scooter/pump track ,bumps etc . Lots of kids have scooters or bikes theybwould live to go on a track ,like hilsea . The park is so big some lovely big equipment would be great . Absolutely love Hogmoor i think its called in bordon . Dont have a picture but the equipment is fantastic . The whole place is so family orientated. Path around the edge of the park for walkers . The park deserves to be used , its always empty because of the rundown equipment . It should be used by local kids ,put some life back into it .

Chelsey Byng2 years ago I would like to see a park that enables children of all ages to use and enjoy. a wooden park would be lovely for this area with lots of colours for the children. we enjoy going to rowlands castle new park that’s been built. Plenty for all ages, slides swings and bounce. The wooden train id also a nice idea at this park. equiporment for children with disabilities and sensory needs also so they can enjoy days out to the park with family and friends. bin and seats would be great.

J W2 years ago Bigger football goals would be great. Table tennis table (people can bring there own bat/balls). Accessible equipment swings and harnesses. Baby swings, small climbing frame with slides, sand pit, older climbing frames, assault course, climbing wall or feature, monkey bars, roundabouts, round swings, long funnel ball chute, seesaw, floor trampoline and a zipline. Fitness equipment would be amazing for teens and adults. A water feature for the summer like fountains but I understand funds might be limited for things like this. Woodchip is a great surface for play areas. And fenced off so no dogs. Bike track with hills. Printed hop scotch on the floor, numbers on the floor.Wildlife area in the far corner with small trees, bushes, shrubs, maybe scented so a sensory area, bug hotels, perennial plants. Wet area to encourage frogs, dragon flies. Bird and bat boxes on the trees. Picnic benches dotted around play area and more benches around the park. Areas for dogs to be off lead, dog assault course.

Deborah Anderson2 years ago Bought my kids up here, they helped out putting in the goal posts when younger. Now my grandkids play here. Would love to see the normal swings slide etc, but also some Gym equipment to keep adults and children fit and able to play together. Nice bright colours to pick the area up and make it more appealing to the younger kids. The same as bidbury park would be great for all ages. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 this will happen soon, before my grandkids grow out of playing in a park, but hopefully last long enough for my great grandkids to also play here. Fabulous area for local kids to play.
